Rules

Conquest follows many of the rules of RISK, as can be viewed online here. To spice it up and adjust to online play, some modifications have been made.

Some of the rules are also set individually by Conquest scenarios.

Whenever you create a game, you can also turn on or off certain rules.

Game options

Place Before Attack
With this on, players can place their new armies each turn, and then attack. Turned off, players can either place or attack, but not do both. Currently always turned on

Choose Initial Countries
Turned on, players choose the countries they start out with, as opposed to having the countries be distributed randomly.
Timeout Only Ends Turn
Normally a player loses the game when time runs out, but with this on, the turn is only ended.
Increasing Card Values
By default, players trade in cards for fixed army values. 3 Soldiers yields 6 armies, 3 Cavalry gives 8 armies, and 3 Artillery a meager 4 armies. 3 mixed cards (including wildcards) is worth 10 armies.

With this option turned on, cards traded in returns increasing number of armies, starting with 8 armies.
Randomize Initial Armies
With this turned on, the initial armies are placed randomly, instead of by the players.
Take Cards
This lets players take the cards from players they wipe out.
Replace Lost Players With Bots
With this on, players that are disconnected or leave the game are immediately replaced by bots.
Fog of War
With Fog of War, you can only see your own and neighbouring countries. This means you can never be certain what happens in parts of the map where you have no presence.
Capitals
In a Capitals game you can win either the normal way, or by conquering everyone's Capital. Conversely, if you lose your Capital, you have lost.
No Whispering
Normally, you can whisper to others by clicking on their names. With this on, you can't.

Missions

When playing with missions, you can win a game by accomplishing your mission, or conquering the world. There are 3 types of missions. When starting a mission game, you are informed of your own mission, but you can never be sure what the other players' goals are.

Random
Each player is assigned a completely random mission.

Elimination
Everyone gets a licence to kill another player.

Territorial
Players receive missions to either conquer half the world, or capture two specific continents.
